Require experience, but need experience to get experience
Not a case I am looking to jump on regularly but it is just a point that I wanted to address and share my experiences. So being a student the plan was move to Birmingham, find a fashion related job, become a big success ect ect, but the last 9 months it seems that all employers want to put my plans on halt. I understand that employers have to hire the best people for the position but how are they able to tell who that is from a CV.
The amount of paper and printing ink I have used printing of CV's and the time I have spent going round to every fashion retail shop must amount to a good years worth of work. Unless you have the biggest names in the retail industry in BOLD on your CV they are just not interested. It all comes down to needing 'experience', but how am I supposed to get experience if I need experience to get experience and the experience that I do have, just because it isn't in Selfridges or Harvey Nichols just isn't good enough. All I want is to make it to interview stage then I would show them that although my I lack the TOPSHOP's and River Islands I am just as good as a contender and am worth the time.
I'm fighting a losing battle I know so therefore I will print of another STACK of CV's and once again head to the city where, the staff will give me false hope by accepting my CV but we both know that I don't stand a chance!!!
